SQL Konferenz 2024, an event that regularly connects database professionals, SQL enthusiasts, and data architects from the DACH region, took place this October in Hanau, Germany, hosting numerous attendees as well as expert speakers ready to share valuable insights and discuss the latest trends and innovations in the industry.
The event provided a perfect opportunity for 400 visitors to level up their skills and learn about the most successful approaches to SQL database optimization, data management, database development, and other routines that often have room for improvement.
As a trusted provider of database management and data connectivity solutions, Devart was honored to sponsor the event alongside other innovative software companies.
Let’s look back to recap the highlights of the event.
Versatile sessions from top industry visionaries
For two days, SQL Konferenz attendees had access to over 70 sessions on data engineering, development optimization, analytics, machine learning, database migration, data virtualization, and more. Speakers from top global companies shared expertise, success stories, and best practices for tackling modern challenges in SQL database management.
Some of the most insightful sessions were dedicated to SQL Copilots and their role in transforming workflows. During these lectures and workshops, attendees could learn how to use AI Copilots in their daily work, along with many other ways to level up their experience. The lectures brought attention not only to the advantages of using AI but also to essential precautions and best practices for doing it responsibly.
Another session dedicated to SQL Server worst practices explained the mistakes and misunderstandings that are common for everyone who starts working with SQL Server and wants to understand it better and feel confident in their work.
Even the most experienced database developers could find valuable takeaways by choosing from the numerous sessions held by renowned speakers with proven achievements in business and a vast background in development.
A word on development productivity and code quality
One of the constant challenges everyone working with SQL databases is familiar with is increasing the SQL coding productivity and overall code quality of the projects. Reportedly, both teams and individual developers struggle with hindered efficiency of query writing, database performance issues, and downtimes caused by changes made to the Production database. Luckily, these challenges can be addressed with proper tools and approaches.
The Devart team has dedicated years to assisting everyone working with SQL code with workflow efficiency and code accuracy. This time, we had a chance to hold a session on finding the simple answers to complex questions, such as How to Increase Productivity and Code Quality. Oleksii Honcharov, the Head of Engineering at Devart, was glad to demonstrate how one can increase SQL coding productivity by up to 50% using an IntelliSense-like Autocomplete feature, as a result improving query clarity and streamlining code refactoring. The cases shown during the session were based on dbForge SQL Complete functionality and provided a clear step-by-step guide on resolving the cases that often require a lot of time and effort or lead to data loss. There were also important insights on safeguarding one’s work with a database by retrieving unsaved queries from the history, session auto-restore options, and setting up Production configurations to prevent the loss of important data.
