Update Entity Developer and Related ADO.NET Providers to Prevent Errors with Opening Models
Important information for all Entity Developer users on Windows 10 and Windows 11, both as a separate product and included into other products: dotConnect providers with ORM support and LinqConnect.
Recently, Microsoft have released a cumulative Windows update (including KB5006670, KB5006672, and KB5006674) for Windows 10 and Windows 11. This update fixes a bug in Windows GDI that has been there for years. We used to bypass this bug with a third-party component, which is currently not supported by the vendor and is coincidentally no longer compatible with the abovementioned Windows update.
As a result, you may encounter an error that causes Entity Developer to crash when creating or opening a model.
We have fixed our products as soon as possible, and new builds of our products with the fix are already available for download. So, if you experience these errors, please update the affected products to the latest version.
Alternatively, you may rollback the KB5006670, KB5006672, and KB5006674 updates on your computer; however, we do not recommend it because of security reasons.
