New in ADO.NET Data Providers, Entity Developer, and LinqConnect: .NET 8 and EF Core 8 Support Implementation, and More

We are glad to announce the latest update for Devart’s ADO.NET Data Providers, Entity Developer, and LinqConnect products.

This update brings support for .NET 8 across all ADO.NET drivers, expanded compatibility with Entity Framework Core version 8 for all products (excluding dotConnect for SQL Server and dotConnect Universal), and official support for Visual Studio 2022 version 17.9 Preview for all dotConnect drivers.

In addition, our dotConnect drivers for BigCommerce, Dynamics 365, FreshBooks, Magento, Mailchimp, QuickBooks, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (formerly ExactTarget), SugarCRM, and Zoho CRM now offer official support for Visual Studio 2022.

Entity Developer now boasts official support for EF Core 8, and we’re excited to announce significant performance improvements for Microsoft SQL Server through the introduction of two new options:

  • Show System Schemas (default: False) – This option can be found under Servers’ Options -> SQL Server. When you enable the Show System Schemas checkbox, the database objects from system schemas will be included in the retrieval process.
  • Retrieve Cross Schema Relations (default: True) – You can locate this option under Servers’ Options -> SQL Server. Enabling the Retrieve Cross Schema Relations checkbox will result in the retrieval of foreign keys from different schemas. Please note that this may increase processing time.

Additional enhancements in this update

  • We have introduced a new extended property called Do Not Generate OnConfiguring Method to enhance the improve the flexibility of EF Core.
  • dotConnect for Oracle now includes support for server connections with enabled Security Banners in the Direct mode.
